Wow, I can't believe how long it's been. I look at this blog, and my website that once was........... And I think to myself WTH happend? Life of course, from kids to work to significant others, life stepped in. It may take time, but I'm going to get back here, I still make candles on a regular bases for family and friends but not like I want to.

We've been away, but now we're back!

Wow, I can't believe we haven't updated since July! So many things have happened, and so many things have changed in my life its unbelievable. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things, and luckily its not as hard as I thought it would be. My family has been very supportive, and have helped me tremendously! The kids are back in school, and my work hours have changed for the better so I have more time for candle making. I will continue to update you when we are back in full swing, thank you so much to my friends, family, and loyal customers for your patience.

Vacation!!!

It feels like I have been waiting forever for this! Today was SUPER Friday for me at my regular job, I'm finally on vacation! 6 whole days off, just me, the hubby and our babies.We were going to stay home and clean (boring!) but we decided to take a family trip to Glendale, AZ to see my husbands grandmother and aunts.

We are all so excited because its been a year or so since we've seen them, and that's way too long. I was supposed to stay home and get some candle making done, but this is the 1st time in over a year that I have actually been anywhere so I couldn't pass it up. I will definitely get back to making them when we get back home.

It should be interesting to see how the kids act during a 5 1/2 hour drive. I'm sure there will be fighting, a million pit stops, someone will sit too close to the other, arguments, and lots of singing and laughing.

My camera will be close at hand, so I will try to take lots of pictures to share with you. If anyone knows of anything fun we can do while we are there, leave a comment and let me know.

A new friends advice, a great camera, and a light box!

The last few days I had been dreading taking pictures of the candles I made for my "Designer Collection" candles. I must have taken 100 different pictures, with four different backgrounds, until I finally found the ones I was happy with.

Back in February, I read my new friend Patrice's blog called "Bitch Post #3: If You Want Me To Buy It, Take A Pretty Picture!" and it had me spooked! I am by no means a photographer! I take pictures for fun, during family events, to catch family members off guard, just because I have a camera. I never, ever thought about how important website pictures were until I read that.

I received my new light box a few days ago and I was terrified! What if they look bad? Should I use the camera stand? What background is going to work best, for what I want to accomplish? I went back to Patrice's blog, read it again, downloaded Google Picasa, and also checked out Handmadeology's "Photography 101".

I am so happy I did! I asked a few of my friends & family what they thought about the pictures I took, kept, and posted, and they LOVED them! Some even asked if I had them taken professionally! Here is one of the ones that I took (myself) and uploaded to my website!

Thank you again Patrice for showing me the way, C.M. for the great camera, The Hubby for the light box, and everything else you do (& purchase) because it makes me happy! It is truly appreciated!

Ms. Patrice, I would really like your opinion, and please be honest ( I wouldn't expect anything less LOL!).

We will be working on our Aromatherapy and Zodiac collection pictures later this week, keep checking back!

"Obsessed" With The Latest Story Of Fatal Attraction

My favorite girl Beyonce,

Has a new movie coming out tomorrow, which my sisters and I will be going to see on saturday. It is called "Obsessed" and it looks like it's going to be really good!

Actor Idris Elba's character finds himself caught in a tug-of-war between two women in the new movie Obsessed. Elba plays Derek Charles, a successful asset manager who has just received a huge promotion, is blissfully happy in his career, and marriage to the beautiful Sharon, played by Beyoncé Knowles. But when Lisa (Ali Larter), a temp worker, starts stalking Derek, the comforts of his personal and professional lives are placed in jeopardy.

After we see it on Saturday, I will let you know what we thought. I'm sure my sister's will give me grief the entire time about her singing as opposed to acting, but I will indulge them! Check out the trailer below, and tell me what you think.

My Seven Somethings Art Award

What a WONDERFUL surprise!!! I was reading some of the blogs that I follow today, and saw that I received an award from one of my favorite ones! My friend Patrice at The Soap Seduction has given me the Seven Somethings Art Award.

The rules for this award are simple:

You list 7 things or people that you are passionate about, then pass the award to 7 bloggers you love:) It took a little while for me to post this one because there are lots of things I thought about listing and had to narrow it down.

7 things i'm passionate about:

1. My family, I have a wonderful husband and four supportive kids that I love with all my heart.

2. My mother, she is so amazing! She raised four girls on her own and no matter what, she never let us see her struggle.

3. My sisters, having them in my life, I never had the need for a best friend. They were always, and still have been there for anything that I've needed as I have for them. We would do anything for one another.

4. String cheese! OMG, I love string cheese when I eat it, it reminds me of the scene from Flashdance where she's at the restaurant eating chicken. (okay I guess that was a little TMI Lol:)

5.Dancing, i'm not good at it at all but it makes my kids laugh and my husband shake his head with this look of confusion "Doesn't she know the Roger Rabbit and the East Coast, West Coast went out of style in the early 90's?" thats ok I still know how to do it.

6. Smiling & Hugging, I love to hug and greet people with a big ole smile wether its family, friends or people I meet for the 1st time it just makes my day.

7. Last but not least Love! I love to love, I love to be in love, I love to see other people who are in or have known love, to me its the best thing out there.

I will use my personal blog as a vehicle to share what I have seen or heard, whether it be on the news or out of the mouth of one of my kids. I just got home from a long day at the 9 to 5 (actually 4pm to 1am) and I was thinking about how much I like Twitter! I like the fact that I can keep up with what friends, family, new people I have met & some of my favorite celebrities (I know its either not them or they will never tweet back) but it's cool to read what everyone's up to.

For those who don't know Twitter is a social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read other users' updates known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 bytes in length. Updates are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them. As of March 2009, Twitter has received more visibility and popularity worldwide.

Yes I have a Facebook personal & business page I also have a personal & business Myspace page. I like them both for different reasons but for me, there's something different about Twitter? Anyway, just me rambling/wanting to share thoughts with my new friends in the blogging world!!!!! Until next time................

We received feedback from customers stating that the new containers are cute, but they prefer the ones we started out with, so were getting rid of the new and bringing back the old (plus some new ones we've never had before!)

"The Marriage Counselor"

Back in February I wrote a post about going to see Tyler Perry's "The Marriage Counselor", well yesterday was the day of the show and I have to say that there is nothing better than seeing it live! I have been a fan of his since day one and I have seen every play, movie and sitcom episode that he has done. When his movies come to the theater I make sure that I go, and I don't purchase them on bootleg. Every time he comes out with a new project it gets better and better, my sister and I laughed so hard with this play!

It was "OUTSTANDING," we loved it and the cast was incredible!The only thing missing was a personal appearance from Mr.Perry I recently saw him on Oprah and I can tell that he is a humble man from humble beginnings but also has not forgotten where he came from.

Bringing the play here means so much, because Las Vegas is often thought of just a place of sin, gambling, and drinking, not to mention other negative persona's. It helped to remind those of us who love and live in SIN CITY that someone realizes that there are people here who want to see and experience a great play, and I thank him for that.

Wednesday February 18th was me & my husbands 9yr wedding anniversary and I got a 16 gig (way to much space) iPod touch as a gift. (Sorry about the picture Patrice at The Soap Seduction :( at least I'm not trying to sell it to you (LOL)

I absolutely love this thing:) Those of you who follow me on Twitter, as well as those on Facebook already know how excited I was because I immediately sent tweets, updates, and emails using it. I use to want an iPhone, but since The Hubby is an area manager for Verizon Wireless, I don't see an iPhone (AT&T/Cingular) in my immediate future LOL! Any way, my iPod touch has everything I need:

GAMES:
* There are hundreds of applications on iTunes for games.
* Most of the games have a FREE version so you can try it out before buying the full version.

INTERNET:
*The iPod Touch has wireless internet (WiFi) built right in. You can set up your email accounts to sync with the iPod Touch when connected to a WiFi network.
*It uses Safari for it's web browser.

SOCIAL NETWORK APPS (My Favs!)
*Facebook, Twitter and MySpace all offer FREE applications to make logging in simple when you are connected to the internet, all you have to do is search iTunes under applications!

MUSIC:
*You can purchase songs right from the iPod when connected to the internet, or burn discs you already own. How simple is that?
*There is also a speaker, you can listen to you music with out using the headphones. The quality is not fabulous, but it comes in handy.

MOVIES and SHOWS:
*I don't have very many shows on my iPod, but I do have a couple of Tyler Perry play's (Love him!) as well as a music video or two, that my 16 year old thinks I can't live without (yeah right).
*You can purchase or rent movies from iTunes to watch right on your iPod.

This is only a small sample of the applications you can get for your iPod touch, if you want them, I am sure a quick search on iTunes will help you find other apps you may need.

I ordered tickets online a couple of weeks ago for Tyler Perry's
"The Marriage Counselor"

They finally arrived today! I am so excited! My sister and I are going to see it at Planet Hollywood on the 7th of March, and I was able to get really great seats.

I have been trying not to read or watch anything about it but I was really excited when I came across this by Sue Merrell @ The Grand Rapids Press:

"The Marriage Counselor," the 10th play of urban playwright Tyler Perry.

In the two-and-a-half hour play, marriage counselor Judith Jackson (Tamar Davis) and her accountant husband Roger (Tony Grant) are having marriage difficulties of their own. Roger works too much, Judith spends too much, and the bills are piling up. Roger's father (Williams) and Judith's mother (Grayson) are living with them and constantly squabbling. Judith escapes to the arms of a former boyfriend (Timon Kyle Durrett.) Judith's secretary (Stephanie Ferrett) adds to the comedy with her in-your-face attitude.

"(Perry) has a captive audience and he takes the opportunity to lift up the community," she said.

The show opened with a medley of gospel songs. In Act II a group counseling session turned into a songfest of "old school" songs such as "Love and Happiness" and "For the Love of You," complete with disco lighting. But most of the show's roof-raising, soul-stirring songs are originals penned by Perry and Elvin Ross. A live five-piece band provided accompaniment and background music as the set revolved to three possible settings.

Our niece and nephew (7 & 9)

This week my husband and I kept our niece and nephew (along with our 4 kids) , while my brother in law worked, and my sister went on a cruise with her girlfriends. We had a lot of fun, and they were no trouble at all (as usual).

She got back yesterday evening, after I got home from work and picked them up. We were pleasantly surprised today, when the doorbell rang and we received these, along with a note that read "Thank You For Keeping The Kids"

It was so sweet, and thoughtful(my daughter laughed because I almost cried). I figure, since the flowers will wilt in a few days I would take a picture and blog about them. This way, I would have a constant reminder of her gratitude.

I don't know what the deal was this week, but it seemed to drag on and on. I don't know if I have talked about this before with any of you, but besides trying to run an online business, I also have a full time job as an executive casino host for one of the top companies on the Las Vegas strip. After 7 years of service, and finally getting the shift of my dreams (Mon - Fri 6am - 3pm) I have to go back to swing shift (4pm - 1am). I only had the day shift for a few months and I loved it.

When I first started, swing shift was fine, but now my kids are getting older and I realize how much I love getting home when they do. Now I have to go back to the hours I had when I first started. I felt really bad, because when I was informed of this change I got very emotional and my boss didn't know what to do or say. The problem is, with these new hours I will only get to see my family in the mornings and on the weekends. I won't be able to help with homework, I will have to cook dinner before I leave and I wont be able to enjoy dinner with them.

My husband says and I agree, it could be worse I could not have a job at all and I should be grateful (I am) but, will my kids understand? I haven't told them yet, but I plan on it as soon as I find out when the schedule change goes in affect. I guess it will be okay, I've done it before and it worked out fine, I just wish I could have spent a little more time on days.

LA man upset over job kills wife, 5 kids, himself

This is the saddest thing I have seen or read in a long time! Is the economy really so bad were it brings a family to this? I am speechless:(

I've included the link to the video I found, as well as the story behind it. My prayers go out to the remaining family members, friends, and the entire community.

LOS ANGELES – A man who fatally shot his wife, five young children and himself Tuesday had earlier faxed a note to a TV station claiming the couple had just been fired from their hospital jobs and together planned the killings as a final escape for the whole family.

"Why leave the children to a stranger?" Ervin Lupoe wrote, according to KABC-TV.

The station called police after receiving the fax, and a police dispatch center also received a call from a man who stated, "'I just returned home and my whole family's been shot."

Officers rushed to the home in Wilmington, a small community between the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, about 8:30 a.m., apparently within minutes of the killings. Officers could still smell the gunshot residue in the air.

Although the fax asserted that Ana Lupoe planning the killings of the whole family, police Lt. John Romero said Lupoe was the suspect. A revolver was found next to his body.

Ana Lupoe's body was found in a downstairs bedroom with the bodies of the couple's twin 2-year-old boys. The bodies of an 8-year-old girl, twin 5-year-old girls were found alongside Lupoe's in an upstairs bedroom.

It was the fifth mass death of a Southern California family by murder or suicide in a year. Police urged those facing tough economic times to get help rather than resort to violence

"Today our worst fear was realized," said Deputy Chief Kenneth Garner. "It's just not a solution. There's just so many ways you find alternatives to doing something so horrific and drastic as this."

Lupoe removed three of the children from school about a week and a half ago, saying the family was moving to Kansas, the school principal told KCAL-TV. Crescent Heights Elementary School Principal Cherise Pounders-Caver said nothing seemed to be troubling Lupoe at that time; she did not ask why the family was moving.

Kaiser Permanente Medical Center West Los Angeles released a statement confirming both Lupoe and his wife worked there; both were medical technicians.

"We are deeply saddened to hear of the deaths of the Lupoe family," it said in a statement.

In the letter he faxed to a TV station, Ervin Lupoe claimed he and his wife both had been fired and that she suggested they kill themselves and their children, too. Police described the fax but did not release the details.

KABC reported that the man claimed in the fax that a medical center administrator rebuffed them when they showed up to work, told them to file a union grievance and said, "You should have blown your brains out."

Lupoe wrote that they filed a grievance but nothing was done and two days later they were fired, KABC said.

"They did nothing to the manager who started such and did not attempt to assist us in the matter, knowing we have no job and five children under 8 years old with no place to go. So here we are," the note said.

At the bottom of the note, Lupoe wrote, "Oh lord, my God, is there no hope for a widow's son?"

The Kaiser Permanente statement made no comment on the claims in Lupoe's fax.

"He was going through some critical situations at the job, that's what he described in that two-page letter, ongoing problems at the job, and that's what prompted him to take his own life and his family's, from what was said in the fax letter," Garner said.

The two-story home, much larger than its one-story neighbors, sits in front of a railroad track in Wilmington, a small community about 18 miles south of downtown. A children's playset stood in the backyard.

Retired truck driver Jaime Solache, who lives a few doors down, said many of these newer, larger homes in the neighborhood had gone into foreclosure. The Lupoe house, which has a sign hanging above the driveway reading "The Lupoe's Pad," is about 6 years old, Solache said.

News of the killings sent shivers through the community, and several neighbors came to the yellow police tape to watch a steady procession of officials enter and leave the home.

"This area right here is quiet, calm," said Armando Chacon, who lives one block north. "People like to sit out at weekends and barbecue. Other than this, no problems at all."

A community meeting was planned later Tuesday in a local church.

It was the fifth mass death of a Southern California family by murder or suicide in a year.

It has been such a beautiful Sunday! I got a bunch of work done, I was able to spend quality time with "The Hubby" and my wonderful kids! We went to the park for a little while today, and the weather for once was unbelievable. I couldn't believe that my honey didn't care about the game today (he really did, but the one he wanted to see didn't start until after we got home LOL).So, while he watched the Steelers and the Ravens, in the playoffs I made candles. I tried to watch a movie, but my mind was on jars and scents, wick placement, whether or not I should use dye. You know all the things that preoccupy us when we need to enjoy our craft. Well, nevertheless, I made 3 new candles and tomorrow I will go out and get some of the accessories I need to decorate them. So I'm sitting in bed contemplating my career or my passion? I like my job, but I love making candles,as you can see by my website I haven't had time to make anything new. Yes, I make candles for my husband to take to work so his store smells pretty, I make them for family members, friends and occasionally for myself, but what about everyone else? I still have the drive, the ambition, the know how, but wheres the time? My dream is to have a candle business that people come to all the time, when they think about candles or need a new candle, they think of me. How do I do that and still hold down a full time job, take care of four growing children and still be a good wife?

New Candle

Last night I made this beautiful 12oz glass bulb container candle. Its a fragrance we call "Fun in the Summer Sun"! It has a 70 hr burn time, (I made one for myself too, and its still burning).
Of course a lead-free cotton wick was used, and the highest quality fragrances. It burns clean, evenly, and has a wonderful scent throw.
